Synopsis: An urban allegory shot on digital video and Super 16 comprising The NewJacks, The OldJacks, The Kings Wife. The NewJacks and The OldJacks revolve around the brothers Kenny and Robert Leonardo. The women in their lives, Virginia Muerte and Margaret La Blanca. Friends Darryl Rubio, Ronnie Mulatto, Euridice La Negra, Louis, Jaime Espana and Manny Elindio Todopoderoso. The NewJacks: Kenny, Darryl and Ronnie are long time buddies who are drifting apart after the loss of a dear friend. Darryl wants to take to the ways of the streets and climb the ranks of crime. Kenny is a nice kid in love with Virginia. He wants to do well in school and he has a budding interest in poetry, he wants no part in joining Darryl in his quest. Ronnie is a quiet shy kid caught in the middle who also has to face up to fact that his mother is a drug fiend party girl. Darryl decides and manages to set Kenny up for a downfall. The conflict comes to a head when Darryl convinces Ronnie that the only way they are going to make names for themselves is by taking to the way of the streets and climbing up the ranks of crime. He strongly believes it does not matter if a person is good or bad. "In the end we all end up in the same place, a grave". The OldJacks: Robert is consumed by a secret life style and is troubled by his younger brothers associations. He has been sleeping with Margaret LaBlanca but does not want to make their relationship public. Margaret decides things have to change and makes Robert aware of how she is feeling. His friends, Jaime has a drug problem, Louie has issues at home and Manny? Well, lets just say he's another pea in this pod of losers. The NewJacks and The OldJacks deal with Christian guilt, the effects of colonization, incest and the one universal constant we cant escape, our mortality. All of the characters are at points in their lives where they have to make serious choices. The Kings Wife This piece is in development and is the sole project of John Vincent Vargas. Yeah, this is the piece that is raising the bar.
